EFCC auctions 435 confiscated vehicles in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has under the EFCC (Establishment) Act 2004, the Public Procurement Act 2007 and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act 2022.

A statement issued by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the exercise was scheduled to commence on Tuesday in Lagos with public inspection of the items and under the command of the agency. And the auction started yesterday and will continue until Thursday (today).

The items are available for sale at 40 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; 15A Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; 14 Cameroon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos and CVU Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Addressing the opening ceremony yesterday, the Secretary of the anti-graft agency and Chairman of the ADC EFCC Asset Disposal Committee, Dr. George Ekpungu, said, “The exercise is the first of its kind for the EFCC Zonal Commands Program to auction confiscated properties and the EFCC Headquarters, being conducted under the (Establishment) Act 2004, the Public Procurement Act 2007 and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act 2022. It is being done in conjunction with the Public Procurement Authority to ensure compliance with all existing laws.”

While welcoming the auctioneers to the center, he thanked sister agencies including the Nigerian Army for being invited to provide adequate security and order.
